AILC Webinars

The Association launched a series of learning webinars as part of our Induction and CPD Programme for Chairs, in partnership with Research in Practice. Each webinar is led by an experienced presenter and includes input from a national perspective.  To increase the access to as many chairs as possible it was decided that the webinars should be hosted in the evening and should last up to one hour long (The format included a 20 - 25 mins presentation and approx. 20 mins for participants to raise questions via a chat function.)  They were also recorded and these are available to watch below.   

Webinar 1 - Performance Management and QA

Covered topics such as:
  • Role of quantitative and qualitative data, developing effective data sets
  • Importance of multi-agency QA, and capturing multi-agency activity
  • Strategic and operational connectivity
  • Including the voice of CYP in performance data and QA activity – impact information NB parents/ carers too
  • Interface between single agency data/ info and the LSCB multi-agency data/info
  • Quality assuring Section 11

Webinar 2 - Governance and Partnership Working

Led by John Harris (Sandwell Safeguarding Children Board Independent Chair) and Mark Rogers (Chief Executive, Birmingham City Council.)  This webinar covered topics such as:
  • Ofsted perspective regarding what good looks like for effective LSCB governance
  • Enabling effective relationships between the LSCB and other strategic forums
  • Scrutiny mechanisms and accountability – and the relationship with council scrutiny
  • Hard systems – protocols, processes, etc.
  • Soft systems – relationship building, balancing challenge and support, etc
  • The role of LSCB Chairs in relation to Improvement Boards and specific issues relating to LAs in intervention / post intervention  (eg new Trust / Commissioner arrangements, etc)
